Minecraft mastermind Markus "Notch" Persson earlier tweeted a trailer that revealed the new location for the event, which was held in Las Vegas last year, and Washington DC in 2010.
Tickets and hotel registration will become available in the next few weeks. As it's the first time MineCon has been held outside of the US, it should be more accessible to European fans of the game who haven't previously been able to attend.
The Minecraft brand has gone from strength to strength this year, with the Xbox 360 version of the title selling an impressive 3 million copies. You can check out the Disney-themed announcement trailer for MineCon 2012 below.
