THQ has released a new Darksiders tie-in app to the App Store. Available now, Darksiders: Soul Harvest lets players check in to locations and “harvest the souls” of other nearby players. As players continue to harvest souls, they’ll move up the leaderboards and unlock in-game weapons for Darksiders II, the first issue of the Darksiders digital comic, mobile backgrounds, trailers and gameplay footage.
For each day of play, you’ll also be entered into a drawing for daily prizes, such as a full-sized replica of Death’s scythe from the game, and a grand prize drawing for a trip to the Yucatan Peninsula. The app is released in partnership with Best Buy, and checking into Best Buy locations adds extra points to their soul harvest score.
Darksiders II hits stores on August 14th for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. A Wii U version will follow later. Check out our hands-on impressions from E3 for an idea of what you can expect from Death.
